London Fashion Week is well underway. I'm still sort of weary from browsing NYFW pics, but I couldn't resist posting the lovely, chic, and girl-crush-worthy Emma Watson. Despite the fact that the first day of Fall finds Seattle at a toasty warm 86 degrees, I've definitely made the transition to an autumnal state of mind. Am I sitting on my sunny back patio, drinking iced tea in shorts and a tank right now? Yes. But in my mind, I am holed up in a cafe with a good book on a stormy day, layered up in a scarf, a cozy cashmere sweater, black leggings and buttery-soft leather OTK boots.
Speaking of fantasies and reality, isn't that just the thing with fashion? Fantastic photo spreads in magazines of perfectly styled $7,000 outfits, the girls of Gossip Girl in head-to-toe designer threads, and even the merchandising in stores like Barney's and Nordstrom illicit desires within me to spend every penny I have on the season's latest offerings.
I suppose that means the industry is doing its job well. They're selling the fantasy of a lifestyle. And I want to buy it. I want to live like they tell me I should. But I'm 20-something, constantly bouncing between varying degrees of employment and trying to become a financially real human being. That's reality.
I love shopping, and i really love new clothes, but I also love eating. And socializing. And not living in a cardboard box.
And so, because I believe that price and fabness are not directly proportional, I offer you,

Ok, so here we have a Gossip Girl and a girl who gossips. Leighton Meester is wearing a pretty adorable combination of a slouchy grey cardigan over a slinky mini dress with a great belt. But, is it just me, or does her minimal make up & outfit combined look like she just rolled out of bed and decided to stroll on over to Fashion Week, because she's Leighton Meester and she can do that?
Lauren Conrad on the other hand, (who I think has nearly flawless (but not particularly exciting or different) hair and make up all the time) looks like a well-dressed orange with a spray tan. But cute, right?
It's a New York vs. California, brunette vs. blonde, Fiction vs. "reality" fashion battle royale. Sort of.
Anyway, here's what I want to know: which look would you rather rock at fashion week?
So the twins Olsen were at the US open. Looking all chic and aloof, as usual. Let's discuss.
First of all, Ashley is apparently dating that hot guy from The Hangover whose barely in the movie...Except at the end when he has that wretched sunburn. Hilarious but unfair for such a good-looking fellow, no?
Second, if anyone can tell me who makes those glasses Ash is wearing, I'll give you five dollars. They are perfection and I must have them. Deal? Ok, great.
Oh also, become an MK+A style stalker like me by browsing Olsens Anonymous daily and pretending you could pull off the bat-sh** crazy but somehow amazing things they wear to get coffee at Starbucks.
